  • Support for sponsoring members of the DRF Luftrettung in case of a medical emergency abroad
  • International networking with air rescue organisations on all continents

The Logistics of an international Ambulance Flight

For each mission all medical details have to be clarified:

  • When they are alerted, the mission dispatchers collect patient and hospital data and consult a physician.
  • This physician communicates with the hospital abroad: Questions are discussed such as what kind of illness or injury the patient is suffering from and whether the patient is in a position to be transported.
  • Afterwards, the dispatchers inform the medical crew who will accompany the flight.
  • They also organize the complete transport of the patient from hospital bed to hospital bed.

At the same time the Officers-in-Charge prepare all the flight details:

  • They inform the flight captains on call about the upcoming mission.
  • The politcal situation, overflight rights, landing permissions, fuel stops and other extensive information for the flight have to be prepared.
  • Within two hours after an alert, the ambulance aircraft are able to start on their worldwide missions.

Professional Mission Dispatchers:

The dispatchers have a broad variety of knowledge and abilities. For the planning of the flights as well as the organisation of overflight rights and landing permissions they have a good command of foreign languages and have a firm knowledge of aviation. Due to their geopolitical competencies, they can evaluate well the situation in the countries of destination.
