HSD Luftrettung gemeinnützige GmbH was founded in 1985. As part of DRF Luftrettung, it operates three HEMS bases across Germany. The headquarters is located in Göttingen, Germany.
The helicopters that are in use in Dortmund, Halle, and Hanover, Germany are used to quickly transport intensive-care patients in a secure and comfortable manner. The helicopters are also used for emergency rescue missions.
Helicopters of type BK 117 and EC 145 are used. They are equipped with all the most modern medical technical devices that are required for caring for emergency care patients and intensive care patients. HSD Luftrettung gemeinnützige GmbH has a certified management system that it installed on June 2, 1999, and was thus the first helicopter company in Germany that was certified according to German industry certification standard DIN EN ISO 9002. In 2003, the company converted to the modified DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 norm.
