DRF Akademie Expands Training Capacity with Additional H145 D3 Simulator

DRF Akademie, part of DRF Luftrettung, has decided to further expand its long-standing partnership with Reiser Simulation and Training (RST) by acquiring an additional Airbus H145 D3 H10 Flight Training Device (FTD) level 3. The German Federal Aviation (LBA) has recently qualified the simulator. It represents a further step in strengthening DRF Akademie’s training capacity for the H145.

Florian Rabe, Managing Director of DRF Akademie, commented: “With this investment, we are taking another decisive step toward future-proof pilot training. As one of the first organizations using this new device, we benefit directly from our close cooperation with Reiser Simulation and Training, to respond quickly to operational requirements while maintaining the highest training standards for our clients. The new simulator complements the H145/H135 Full Flight Simulator at LAT in Frankfurt and can be integrated with our hoist simulator ‘hoistAR’, enabling a broader and highly flexible training portfolio.”

The simulator also benefits DRF Luftrettung itself, one of Europe’s largest HEMS operators. “In combination with our state-of-the-art fleet, the new simulator provides our crews with optimal training conditions. This not only enhances training quality but also safeguards operational readiness across our 32 HEMS bases in Germany - for the benefit of our patients,” explained Dr. Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung.

The simulator will be equipped with a cutting-edge mixed reality system and will accurately represent the Airbus H145 D3 variant featuring the latest avionics software standard, Version 10. The device is designed to obtain Multi-Crew Coordination (MCC) approval from the aviation authorities. This will allow for dedicated MCC training on the H145 platform, a new capability for this kind of training device.

The simulator is scheduled to enter service in early June this year in Frankfurt and will be operated by Lufthansa Aviation Training. The accelerated delivery of the training device was jointly agreed upon by the partners in order to rapidly address the growing demand for high-quality training capacity, while simultaneously investing in pioneering and innovative training solutions.

Johannes Hain, CEO of RST added:
“This project underlines our shared commitment to innovation and operational excellence. Delivering this H145 D3 simulator with MCC approval, demonstrates how forward-looking training concepts can be successfully realized through strong partnerships.”
